Dairy trainer receives leadership award

National Centre for Dairy Education Australia (NCDEA) industry trainer, Heidi Knowles has received recognition for her leadership in dairy education with an Encouragement Award from the Fonterra Dairy Leadership Award which is part of the 2011 Regional and Community Development Awards.
Ms Knowles received the Encouragement Award for recognition of the support and leadership she has shown with the Certificate III Agriculture NCDEA trainees in the Western District.
The award night was held in Ballarat on October 15 with the Hon Peter Ryan, Deputy Premier of Victoria, presenting the award to Ms Knowles (both pictured at right). The finalists in this category were UDV Macarthur Branch, YDDP and DEMODairy with YDDP the eventual winners.
The dairy leadership category was one of several other categories presented on the evening. The Regional Achievement and Community Awards for Victoria are about recognising rural and regional individuals and groups in communities.
They are to encourage and support those working in rural and regional areas. Awards such as these create an opportunity to say thank you to businesses, community groups and individuals who work tirelessly in developing their chosen fields of endeavour.
