The course aims to provide graduates with broad-based underpinning competencies in a range of engineering skills such as basic machining, fabrication and use of tools which will enhance their entry-level employment prospects including apprenticeships and traineeships.

Career Opportunities
This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to assist them in gaining an apprenticeship in the engineering trade.
Entry Requirements
Students will be asked to attend a personal interview with the Shepparton Technical Education Centre before being accepted into the program. Applicants will be required to undertake a pre-test and personal interview before acceptance into this course.
Duration & Delivery
The hcourse is of 24 months duration part time (390 nominal hours)
Assessment
Participants are assessed via completion of required tasks and a demonstration of skills, eg. Written and verbal assignments, practical work, classroom participation, projects and/or written tests.
Practical Placement
It si encouraged that students undertake work placement as part of this course to extend their experience and employer networks. Work placement is not mandated but strongly encouraged.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)
RCC is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of a previously gained accredited qualification that may no longer be recognised by official bodies. With your current industry experience, the RCC process will involve an assessment against the current qualification. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RCC or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is an evidence gathering assessment process where an individual's skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area are assessed against a unit or units of a nationally accredited training package. Thus enabling them to gain part or all of a formal qualification. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RPL or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.
Pathways to further VET study
Certificate III in Engineering, Certificate IV in Engineering, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Engineering. Engineering studies can be completed to a Masters level.
