Advanced Diploma of Arts (Acting) is a six semester course, focussing on building a company of actors who will work and train together for three years, and upon graduation be equipped with skills to pursue an acting career in the professional arena. This course is not being offered anywhere else in Victoria.
The course revolves around a methodology in Laban and Stanislavski acting techniques, which provides a core on which personal acting technique may be developed or enhanced. We have specialist teachers from Melbourne who are active in the Industry in both disciplines engaged to be part of the delivery team. We also have TV performance workshops being run by John Wood (Actor), and Mike Bishop (Drama Coach Neighbours). The remainder of the high profile teaching staff have been sourced from the Industry, and are active in Professional Theatre performance and direction, Film making and Writing for Performance, in addition to specialists in Voice, Singing, Movement and other specific disciplines.

Other career options include: Directing, Assistant director, Stage manager, Theatre manager.
Entry Requirements
Applicants will be requried to audition. During audition they will be required to present at least two dramatic monologues and one musical piece.
Those short listed from this process will be asked to return for further exercises and skill work ( which will include group work). Some applicants who reach this second shortlist will be asked to undertake a third and final individual audition.
Entry is based on the student's ability to show potential for a career in acting.

Duration & Delivery
The duration of the course is 4300 nomina hours. 25 hours per week over a 120 week (10 week terms) period, over 3 years (4 terms per year for a total of 12 terms)
Assessment
Participants are assessed via completion of required tasks and a demonstration of skills, eg. Written and verbal assignments, practical work, classroom participation, projects and/or written tests.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)
RCC is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of a previously gained accredited qualification that may no longer be recognised by official bodies. With your current industry experience, the RCC process will involve an assessment against the current qualification. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RCC or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is an evidence gathering assessment process where an individual's skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area are assessed against a unit or units of a nationally accredited training package. Thus enabling them to gain part or all of a formal qualification. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RPL or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.
Pathways to further VET study
The Advanced Diploma of Arts (Acting) has units which are specific to acting in orienttion. Apart from CUFSAF01B - Follow health and safety, there are no other units offered within TAFE which are directly equivalent to units within this award.
Pathway to Higher Education
Degree level studies in acting are offered at various institutions around Australia such as NIDA, VCA and WAAPA. Formal articulation arrangements will be investigated as the course develops.
