The Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management is a course that provides participant with the knowledge and practical skills required to work in environmental restoration /regeneration industries. The course aims to provide students with a grounding in natural area restoration and conservation strategies, weed management and control, Machinery operation and maintenance, and Plant identification and management strategies. Practical skills gained include the use of chemicals and chainsaws and the construction of fencing.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the course can obtain employment in any of the following related fields; General land management, conservation earth works, Lands Parks and wildlife, Natural area restoration and management, Weed management and Vertebrate pest management
Entry Requirements
Students must be 15 years of age and have completed year 10 with adequate literacy and numeracy skills and have a keen interest in the conservation and land management area. Participants are required to have employment in the conservation and Land management field.
Duration & Delivery
The duration of the course is 18 months full time or 3 years part time.
Assessment
Participants are assessed via completion of required tasks and a demonstration of skills, eg. Written and verbal assignments, practical work, classroom participation, projects and/or written tests.
Qualification
The Certificate II in Conservation and Land management is a nationally recognised qualification.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)
RCC is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of a previously gained accredited qualification that may no longer be recognised by official bodies. If you have an earlier qualification and have current industry experience, the RCC process will involve assessment of your prior qualification against the current qualification and if successful will result in a full or partial upgrade to the current qualification. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RCC or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is an evidence gathering assessment process where an individual's skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area are assessed against a unit or units of a nationally accredited training package. RPL is specifically for applicants who have skills and knowledge in a vocational area that may enable them to gain part or all of a formal qualification thus recognizing their non-formal and informal prior learning. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RPL or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.
Pathways to Further Study
Successful completion of Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management may lead to further study in Certificates III & IV through other providers or the Diploma of Conservation and Land Management.
