Certificate II in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport) is designed to provide accredited training for people wishing to pursue a career in the road transport sector of the transport and logistics industry. It also provides opportunities for those within this industry sector to recognise and upgrade their skills.

Career Opportinities

You will gain transportable skills and knowledge, which will open up opportunities in various streams of road transport including: depot manager or supervisor, multi-combination driver, distribution manager, freight or fleet coordinator and others.

Entry Requirements

This course is delivered in the workplace only. Full or part time employment in the transport and distribution road transport field is a requirement.

Duration & Delivery

The approved training scheme for this course is 12 months full time or 24 months part time. These maximum durations assume that the applicatn has not gained a lower level qualification prior to entering the training agreement.

Assessment

Participants are assessed via completion of tasks, projects and demonstration of skills, including on-the-job assessment by a qualified workplace assessor. Assessment is undertaken on a regular basis throughout the duration of the course.

Qualification

The Certificate II in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport) is a nationally recognised qualification.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)

RCC is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of a previously gained accredited qualification that may no longer be recognised by official bodies. If you have an earlier qualification and have current industry experience, the RCC process will involve assessment of your prior qualification against the current qualification and if successful will result in a full or partial upgrade to the current qualification. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RCC or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is an evidence gathering assessment process where an individual's skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area are assessed against a unit or units of a nationally accredited training package. RPL is specifically for applicants who have skills and knowledge in a vocational area that may enable them to gain part or all of a formal qualification thus recognizing their non-formal and informal prior learning. Contact the teaching department for further advice on RPL or request an information brochure from the Customer Service Centre.

Pathways to further study

Candidates who successfully complete this course may wish to undertake study in the Certificate III in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport).
