You dont need to have grown up on dairy farm to work in the dairy industry.

The NCDEA teaches you all the skills you need to gain employment in the dairy industry. You can learn how to drive a tractor, milk cows, understand nutrition, assist in the delivery of calves and plan farm activities.

The NCDEA delivers courses from Certificate II to Advanced Diploma level on a full time, part time and flexible basis. By completing a course with the NCDEA you can gain the skills needed to work on a dairy farm or become a skilled dairy worker or a farm supervisor. Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses lead to farm management.

Students can undertake training in a variety of ways:

School Based Apprenticeships
VET in Schools
Traineeships
Diploma & Advanced Diploma of Agriculture

If you are still at school you can do a School Based Apprenticeship or a VETiS program through your secondary school. These offer the best way to get a head start on a career in dairy before you leave school. You combine your school studies with on farm experience and part time dairy training.

Traineeships offer a great start for young people. It's the perfect way to learn. You gain skills and experience on the job backed up with part time study which provides the theory and understanding behind the practice. You also earn while you learn!
