“The great thing about studying with the NCDEA is that the teachers enjoy the course as much as you do”.
Although Samuel comes from a long line of dairy farmers, it wasn’t until he participated in the dairy industry’s National All Breeds Youth Camp that he realised the challenges and attractive lifestyle that dairy farming provides. As Samuel contends, “You can be your own boss and make lots of money by operating and owning your own dairy farm.”
Samuel initially thought about studying an agricultural science degree with a university. “I was keen to do the Advanced Diploma as it appeared to be more practical than the degree and it was more suited to my linking”, suggests Samuel.
Samuel aspires to work at an internationally renowned dairy, but he realised that he needs a quality qualification to achieve this. “If I want to work with world leader in the dairy industry, then I need to gain a qualification from a leading education facility, contents Samuel.“As the preferred trainer for the dairy industry the NCDEA was an obvious choice.”
“The NCDEA provides a good atmosphere, and it doesn’t restrict you from earning money or having a life outside of study. The workload allows you to still do footy and have a part-time job.”
“One of the best bits of the course is definitely the six practical farm placements and the annual farm tour. The tour can be anywhere in Australia like Tasmania, Cairns, New South Wales or Northern Victoria. You get to visit several farms, see how milk products are produced, meet key people in the industry and have a good time with fellow students. My Year gets to organise the tour in 2007 and we are exploring a potential overseas tour, perhaps to South America.”
